Industrial Inventor and Technology Developer
Per Lothe is a Norwegian engineer and technology developer with extensive experience in offshore, maritime and industrial process systems. Throughout his career he has been listed as inventor or co-inventor on more than 200 patents and patent applications worldwide, placing him among the more prolific industrial inventors in Norway.
His inventions span several areas of industrial technology, including:
offshore and maritime engineering
hydrodynamics and fluid systems
pressurized gas transport
ballast water and environmental technologies
industrial process systems.
Many of these innovations originate from fundamental engineering principles in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and pressure systems, combined with practical experience from large-scale offshore and maritime projects.
Per Lothe holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical/Process Engineering from NTNU.
Work experience:

Inventor of new technologies within Knutsen OAS Shipping such as:
Knutsen Volatile Organic Compounds (KVOC) system to reduce VOC emissions during loading.
Knutsen Pressurized Natural Gas system (PNG) for shipping natural gas at pressures up to 250 bar.
Knutsen Ballast Water Treatment System (KBAL) for treatment of ballast water onboard skips.
High True Vapor Pressure (HTVP) ships for transporting pressurized crude containing significant volumes of gas.
Knutsen NYK Carbon Carrier's LCO2-EP uses PNG and HTVP technologies to transport liquefied CO2 under elevated pressure.
In addition, involved in system design, detailed design, implementation and operation of the technologies when implemented.

Involved and later responsible for inspection of pipelines and risers in Statoil.
Participation in gravel dumping operations.
Responsible for transfer and establishment of the Pipeline Repair System (PRS) from Norsk Hydro to Statoil.
Responsible for follow up the PRS contract for the 2 first years after transfer.
Involved in gas infrastructure management for selection of pipeline system design such as Zeepipe and Troll pipelines.
Developed the Troll spec break design that increased the pipeline capacity from Troll Kollsnes gas plant.
Served as a core team member on the Åsgard Transport project with responsibilities for developing multi-diameter inspection pigging and subsea pigging system solutions.

Performed field development studies for Gullfaks and Albatross projects.
Contributed to Oseberg Transport core team in conceptual design, detailed design, pipeline control system, and hydraulic analysis and pipe laying.
Managed operating planning, including creating operating procedures for the pipeline system.
